Peter Rorvik retires from Arterial Network

 

Peter Rorvik will retire as Secretary-General of Arterial Network’s continental secretariat where he has served since 2013.

 

Announcing his retirement, Rorvik said, “Working for Arterial Network has been a most enriching experience.  The arts and culture sector is growing in leaps and bounds across this continent, and Arterial Network has played a valuable role in networking and strengthening the voice of artists and arts organisations in Africa.”

 

“With a new Steering Committee in place since October 2015, under the proactive leadership of Mamou Daffe, and with a committed and competent team at the secretariat, I feel this is a appropriate juncture to hand over my responsibilities.  I have great confidence that in collaboration with sector partners from around the continent, Arterial Network will continue to play its part in advancing the arts in Africa. I thank all funders and partners for your support, the Steering Committee, my colleagues at the secretariat, and Arterial Network members and associates everywhere, for your commitment and efforts that are shaping a new and exciting future for arts and culture in Africa, one that recognizes the value of the arts for our societies, socially, economically, and as a crucial agent in bringing about change based on social justice and human rights.”

 

Describing him as an “experienced and dedicated collaborator for the cause”, Chairperson of Arterial Network, Mamou Daffe, hailed Rorvik’s “commitment and work for the development of this pan-African network.

 

Rorvik will stay in service to oversee the process of appointing a successor and to ensure continuity and stability during the transition. Although retiring from full-time employment he will remain active in the arts field.

PETER RORVIK, PREND SA RETRAITE D'ARTERIAL NETWORK

Peter Rorvik prendra sa retraite en tant que Secrétaire-Général du Secrétariat Continental d'Arterial Network, poste qu'il occupe depuis 2013.

Au moment d'annoncer sa prise de retraite, Rorvik a affirmé que, « …le fait de travailler pour Arterial Network a été une expérience ô combien enrichissante.  Le secteur des Arts et Culture connait une croissance exponentielle sur l'ensemble du continent, et Arterial Network a joué un rôle clé en matière de réseautage et du renforcement de la voix des artistes et des organisations artistiques en Afrique. »

« Avec le nouveau Comité de Pilotage déjà en place depuis octobre 2015, et sous le leadership proactif de Mamou Daffe, et avec une équipe engagée et compétente au sein du Secrétariat, j’estime que le moment est bien choisi pour passer le flambeau.  J’ai entièrement foi en ce que grâce à une collaboration continue avec les partenaires du secteur sur le continent, Arterial continuera à jouer pleinement son rôle qui est celui du développement des arts en Afrique. Je remercie tous les bailleurs et partenaires pour leur soutien, le Comité de Pilotage, mes collègues au Secrétariat, et les membres d'Arterial Network et ses associés partout ailleurs, pour leur engagement et leurs efforts qui permettent de façonner un nouvel et passionnant avenir des arts pour nos sociétés, au plan social, économique, et en tant que agents importants du changement axé sur la justice sociale et les droits de l'homme. » 

Le décrivant comme « un collaborateur expérimenté et dévoué à la cause », le Président d'Arterial Network, Mamou Daffe, a salué « l'engagement et le travail de Rorvik pour le développement de ce réseau panafricain. »

Rorvik restera en service pour superviser le processus de sélection de son successeur et afin d'assurer la continuité et la stabilité au cours de la période de transition. Même s'il prend sa retraite d'un travail à temps plein, il restera présent dans le domaine des arts.
