C’est en 1996 que la sociéte Xenix Filmdistribution a été créée. Nous nous efforçons de sélectionner les films selon leurs contenus et leurs critères esthétiques, tout en veillant à la diversité de notre catalogue.
Des œuvres fortes à caractère social des frères Dardennes telles ROSETTA (Palme d’or à Cannes en 1999) et L’ENFANT(Palme d’or en 2005) ou encore FROZEN RIVER Courtney Hunt côtoient par exemple des films aussi éclectiques que MOON, film culte de science fiction hyperstylisé, BLANCANIEVES, muet espagnol, la satire sociale AMERICAN PSYCHO ou le film argentin oscarisé EL SECRETO DE SUS OJOS.
Mais on y trouve aussi des films moins connus mais tout aussi exaltants, venus du monde entier, audacieux comme la comédie LA VISITE DE LA FANFARE, complexe comme le film argentin sur un passage à l’âge adulte XXY, que le thriller australien LANTANA, les très esthétiques drames familiaux LE BANISSEMENT et ELENA du maître russe Andrei Zvyagintsev, sans oublier les comédies CIAO STEFANO de Valerio Mastandrea, PRANZO DI FERRAGOSTO (LE DEJEUNER DE 15 AOÛT) de et avec Gianni di Gregorio ainsi que 2 DAYS IN PARIS/ 2 DAYS IN NEW YORK et avec Julie Delpy. Rien qu’en jetant un œil sur notre catalogue, on comprend immédiatement que les films de masse et les marchandises culturelles ne sont pas notre tasse de thé. Nous préférons les films faits avec amour et conviction, les films engagés et originaux, les films qui puissent divertir tout en faisant réfléchir. Notre société distribue environs 15 films par ans, ce qui nous permet de soigner tout particulièrement leur promotion en Suisse alémanique, romande et italienne.
Nous représentons, en outre, en Suisse alémanique, la société de distribution genevoise AGORA FILMS, ce qui nous permet d’avoir plus rapidement accès à de nombreux films francophones tels ETRE ET AVOIR, SAINT-JACQUES… LA MECQUE ou encore LES PETITS MOUCHOIRS et de les présenter au public suisse allemand.

Xenix Film Distribution Ltd. was founded in 1996. We select films carefully, considering contents and aesthetics as well as a balanced selection.
We have chosen works of social concern such as the films by the Dardenne brothers (ROSETTA – Palme d’Or 1999 and L’ENFANT – Palme d’Or 2005) or Courtney Hunt’s FROZEN RIVER, as well as thoroughly stylized works like the science-fiction cult film MOON, the social satire AMERICAN PYSCHO, the Spanish silent movie BLANCANIEVES or the Argentine Oscar prize winner EL SECRETO DE SUS OJOS. Small, exquisite films like the Israeli situational comedy THE BAND’S VISIT or the complex Argentine coming-of-age story XXY are equally part of our programme as the Australian thriller LANTANA, the powerful imagery of the family dramas THE BANISHMENT and ELENA by the Russian past master Andrei Zvyagintsev or the comedies NON PENSARCI with Valerio Mastandrea, PRANZO DI FERRAGOSTO by and with Gianni di Gregorio and 2 DAYS IN PARIS / 2 DAYS IN NEW YORK by and with Julie Delpy. But we not only range all over the globe. Swiss films are included as well, for example Stefan Haupt’s SAGRADA – EL MISTERI DE LA CREACIO, Eric Bergkraut’s ROOM 202 – PETER BICHSEL IN PARIS or the successful documentaries BERGAUF BERGAB, THE CHILDREN OF MOUNT NAPF and DIE WIESENBERGER.
One look at our current program shows: Our films are not run-of-the-mill, but made with conviction and commitment, original films that entertain and provide food for thought. Our company distributes some fifteen films every year. This guarantees a careful and painstaking launch in the German, French and Italian speaking areas of Switzerland.
Moreover we represent the Geneva-based distributors AGORA FILMS in the German speaking part of the country and successfully present francophone films like ETRE ET AVOIR, SAINT-JACQUES… LA MECQUE or LES PETITS MOUCHOIRS to the Swiss-German public.

Xenix Filmdistribution GmbH wurde 1996 gegründet. Der Filmverleih entstand ursprünglich aus den Aktivitäten des Filmclubs Xenix heraus, operiert jedoch als eigenständige Firma. Unser Unternehmen gibt gut 15 Filme pro Jahr heraus. Damit können wir eine sorgfältige Lancierung der Filme in der deutschen, französischen und italienischen Schweiz gewährleisten.
Zudem vertreten wir in der Deutschschweiz den Genfer Verleiher AGORA FILMS und können so die meist frankophonen Filme wie ETRE ET AVOIR, SAINT-JACQUES… LA MECQUE oder LES PETITS MOUCHOIRS erfolgreich einem Deutschschweizer Publikum näher bringen.
