Les Niambwa sont une tribu de la Cote d’Ivoire. Ils vénèrent le dieu Masque et le placent au cœur de leur société et de leur culture. Le Masque est médiateur dans les conflits et sa décision est finale. Sa lourde silhouette danse accompagné par toute la population. Et soudain, l’homme panthère apparaît, rampant dans son étrange costume et sème la panique.

Deux personnages extrêmes.

Le réalisateur a entrepris de filmer les coutumes ancestrales des différentes tribus de son pays avant qu’elles ne disparaissent. Il a pu se mêler à la foule sans être remarqué et transmettre l’essence de la célébration.

Niambwa People (The)
The Niambwa is a tribe that worships the God Mask at the centre of their society, culture and politics. The Mask is mediator in conflicts and his decision is final. His heavy figure dances accompanied by the whole population. Suddenly, the panther-man appears crawling with his strange disguise, sowing the panic. Two opposite figures.

The director Roger M’Bala, one of the most important of his country, has decided to film the ancestral costumes of several tribes of Ivory Coast before they disappear completely. Being a member of this community he mingles with the crowd without being noticed and deliver the essence of the celebration.
