Des immigrés clandestins africains partent pour l’Europe dans un film sur les rêves, l’espoir et leur prix.
En trois différents lieux de la planète, trois immigrés africains très différents partagent le rêve d’une vie meilleure. Ils embarquent tous pour un voyage périlleux afin d’atteindre leur destination commune  : l’Europe. Harouna, un jeune artiste originaire du village côtier de Nouadhibou en Mauritanie, pays d’Afrique Occidentale, a laissé derrière lui sa femme et son enfant dans l’espoir d’un futur meilleur pour eux trois. En Italie, un groupe de demandeurs d’asile vit dans un centre d’hébergement aux airs de prison, doutant du fait qu’ils puissent avoir un avenir en Europe. Enfin, à Copenhague, nous faisons la connaissance d’un groupe qui a certes atteint la terre promise, mais qui vit une vie de perpétuelle recherche de l’argent que leurs familles s’attendent à recevoir. Ditte Haarløv Jensen excelle dans la réalisation, évitant la partialité avec subtilité dans ce récit des histoires de ceux que l’on appelle les immigrés clandestins et dont l’on entend parler si ce n’est ici, seulement dans les informations. Days of Hope et un récit sur l’espoir, les rêves et le prix que les réfugiés du monde entier doivent payer pour vivre l’un et l’autre.

Illegal African immigrants heading for Europe in a film about dreams, hope and the price of both.

From three different places in the world, very different African immigrants all share the dream of a better life. They all embark on a perilous journey to reach a common destination: Europe. Harouna, a young artist from the coastal town Nouadhibou in the West African country of Mauretania, has left his wife and child in hope of a better future for all three of them. In Italy, a group of asylum seekers lives in a prison-like asylum centre, uncertain about whether they even have a future in Europe. And in Copenhagen we finally meet a group of people who may have reached the promised land, but who live a life of constantly searching for the money that their family is expecting them to send home. Ditte Haarløv Jensen is an excellent director, who subtly avoids one-sidedness in the stories about so-called illegal immigrants, which we otherwise only hear about in the news.’Days of Hope’ is a story of hope and dreams, and of the price that the world’s refugees have to pay to live with both.
