Lahbib « Marocain », mari aimant, n’a jamais vu sa femme Louisa « Algérienne » dans cet état, sa femme attend son premier bébé. Lahbib panique. Avec l’aide de son ami Belakhder « Algérien », il emmène sa femme au « dispensairematernité » d’un village avoisinant. L’infirmière lui demande d’aller chercher une layette pour le futur bébé. Ce jourlà, la guerre des sables éclate, Lahbib « absorbé », préoccupé par l’état de sa femme, ne s’aperçoit de rien et ne prête aucune attention à l’agitation inhabituelle du village. Sur le chemin du retour au « dispensairematernité », la layette à la main, des soldats l’interceptent, lui demandent sa carte d’identité, découvrent qu’il est Marocain, le mettent dans un camion et le jettent à la frontière. Et là commencent les souffrances d’un couple « déchiré » par la bêtise humaine.

Louiza is pregnant in her ninth month, she suffers from the intense soreness of birth, Lahbib is perplexed because it is his first newborn. Belkhdar, his Algerian friend, helped him to take Louiza to Mghinia city to give birth in the hospital. The simplicity of Lahbib leads him to neglect what’s happened around him. The nurse requests some stuffs for the newborn and his mother. Lahbib comes out rambled about to look for a market to buy the stuffs, the Algerian militaries catch him and expel him by force to home country, as well as all Moroccans found in their way, as a result of the war that clashes between the two countries. The suffering of Lahbib begins; he is expelled even without seeing his newborn…
