Ce n’est pas une danse. C’est Amal qui raconte son histoire à travers une danse orientale. Ses mouvements, ses sentiments et la réaction du public sont une forme de narration pour décrire ce qui lui est arrivé. Forcée de quitter son pays et de se retrouver dans un nouvel endroit, son seul amal (l’espoir en arabe) est qu’une personne voit sa douleur. Que quelqu’un dans le public l’a voit. Sarah semble être le reflet des sentiments d’Amal.

This is not a dance. It is Amal telling her story through a belly dance. Her movements, her feelings and the reaction of the audience are a form of narration to describe what happened to her. Forced to leave her country and find herself in a new place, her only amal (hope in Arabic) is that someone sees her pain. That someone in the audience sees her. Sarah seems to be a reflection of Amal’s feelings.
