Dans une ville minière, Abdou, un adolescent cherchant à apprendre à lire et à écrire, vit avec sa mère adoptive Mbarka, la guérisseuse du quartier, qui lui interdit de s’instruire. Chaayba, un pickpocket à la trentaine, est convaincu par Abdou de rendre visite à Mbarka pour soigner son eczéma. Dès lors, le sort liera ces trois personnages…

بضواحي مدينة منجمية، يسعى الشاب عبدو إلى تعلم القراءة والكتابة. لكن امباركة، أمه بالتبني ومداوية الحي، تمنعه من ذلك. ينجح عبدو في إقناع شعيبة، وهو نشال في الثلاثين من العمر، بزيارة امباركة لعلاج مرضه الجلدي الذي يعاني منه. منذ ذلك الحين، سيربط القدر بين مصائر هذه الشخصيات الثلاثة…
