Invité par la Ghetto Biennale de Port au Prince, l’artiste multimédia Pascal Giacomini passe un mois au sein de la communauté de la Grand Rue. Il y travaille un mois, n’utilisant que ce qu’il peut trouver et recycler pour créer trois grandes sculptures, exhibées à la fin du festival avec les artistes locaux. Il profite de l’expérience pour montrer la vie quotidienne du ghetto. Il interview les artistes, locaux et autres; et tente de montrer la source de l’étonnante énergie créatrice haïtienne, qui mélange l’histoire révolutionnaire du pays, le vodou, et l’expérience traumatique du tremblement de terre. Ce qui a poussé les artistes à transformer le gravas en art. C’est le conte heureux d’un esprit indestructible.

Invited by the Ghetto Biennale of Port au Prince, the multimedia artist Pascal Giacomini spends a month in the community of Grand Rue. He works there a month, using only what he can find and recycle to create three large sculptures, exhibited at the end of the festival with local artists. He takes advantage of the experience to show the daily life of the ghetto. He interviews artists, locals and others; and tries to show the source of the amazing Haitian creative energy, which mixes the country’s revolutionary history, voodoo, and the traumatic experience of the earthquake. What prompted artists to turn the gravas into art. It is the happy tale of an indestructible spirit.
