Dans les ruelles de Tripoli, au Liban, Ghassan se questionne sur ses origines et ce qui lui reste de l’histoire de son grand-père. Il a grandi dans le quartier de « la cour des esclaves » et il est l’un des rares libanais de peau noire. Il est Petit-fils d’un tirailleur guinéen arrivé durant le mandat français et disparu après son départ avec l’armée française. Avec une unique photo en sa possession, Ghassan souhaite obtenir la reconnaissance des sacrifices de son grand-père. Aujourd’hui, une lettre attend d’être remise de l’autre côté de la Méditerranée « Cher Président français, … ».

In the tight alleyways of Tripoli, Lebanon, in his birth district called « Court of slaves », Ghassan is still questioning the destiny of his grandfather, his roots, and rights. He’s the descendant of a black African fighter who came to Lebanon fighting with De Gaulle during the French mandate on Lebanon and Syria and disappeared after leaving with the French army in 1943. With only a photograph in hand to link him to a forgotten past, Ghassan’s focus is on getting recognition for his grandfather’s sacrifices. Today, one letter is still waiting to be delivered to the other side of the Mediterranean « Dear French President, I would like to tell you… »

في أزقة طرابلس بلبنان يتساءل غسان عن أصوله وما تبقى من قصة جده. نشأ في حي « بلاط العبيد » وهو من القلائل اللبنانيين ذوي البشرة السوداء. غسان حفيد جندي غيني جاء أثناء الانتداب الفرنسي واختفى بعد مغادرته مع الجيش الفرنسي. بحوزته صورة واحدة فقط ، يتمنى غسان أن تدرك تضحيات جده. اليوم رسالة تنتظر التسليم في الضفة الأخرى للبحر الأبيض المتوسط
