Partant d’une phrase de Sigmund Freud définissant le deuil et d’une réflexion de Hannah Arendt sur le comportement des intellectuels allemands en 1933, Nurith Aviv laisse parler ses amis, en Allemagne, de ce qui, à leur sens, est irrémédiablement perdu.
En toile de fond, un plan-séquence de 30 minutes, un trajet en S-Bahn à travers Berlin, la ville de ses ancêtres juifs.

Starting from Sigmund Freud’s definition of mourning and from Hannah Arendt’s observation of the behavior of German intellectuals in 1933, Nurith Aviv lets her friends in Germany speak about what, according to them, has been irrevocably lost.
In the background, a travelling shot of thirty minutes, a trip with the S-Bahn through Berlin, hometown of her Jewish ancestors.
