La peinture de Pat Andréa est particulièrement cinématographique parce qu’elle raconte une multitude d’histoires en images. Ses tableaux sont les mises en scène d’un théâtre mythologique imaginaire, construit dans la diversité et la multiplicité des cultures, une oeuvre essentiellement métisse. Le film raconte l’histoire d’un tableau depuis la conception du premier croquis jusqu’à son départ de l’atelier et sa vente dans une grande foire à Amsterdam. Une tranche de vie d’un peintre que l’on suit pendant trois mois. Trois mois pour cette expérience, le temps de bâtir et de déconstruire l’oeuvre qui ne se donne jamais toute seule, qui résiste au peintre, qui cherche son équilibre jusqu’à sa réalisation finale.

The works of the painter Pat Andréa are cinematographic because they tell a multitude of stories using images. His paintings are the stage for an imaginary mythological theatre built on a multiplicity of cultures – definitively mixed raced. The film tells the story of a painting, from the time of the first sketch to the moment it leaves the artist’s studio and is sold at a major showing in Amsterdam. We follow the artist’s life for three months. During this time, the work is constructed and deconstructed. The work does not just appear; it resists the artist who engages in a continuous struggle for balance until the painting is completed.
