Javé est un petit village condamné à disparaître sous les eaux d’un barrage d’une importante centrale hydroélectrique. La seule solution pour sauver Javé est que le village soit classé comme patrimoine national. Les villageois se regroupent et décident de raconter l’histoire de Javé et d’en écrire un livre. Antonio Bia est chargé de ce travail étant le seul à savoir écrire. Il est confronté aux multiples interprétations de l’histoire du village chacun se déclarant porteur de la vérité. Pour corser l’affaire, Antonio Bia n’a pas un caractère facile et ses prétentions littéraires déstabilisent plus d’un interlocuteur qui craint de voir écrite une histoire trop romancée…

Javé is a little village doomed to be swallowed by the waters of a big hydroelectric dam. The only way to save the village is to have it classified as a national heritage site. The villagers get together and decide to write a book on the history of Javé. Antonio Bia is entrusted with this task, as he is the only one who knows how to write. He has to deal with a multitude of different versions of the history of the village, each one claiming to be the truth. To make things harder, Antonio Bia has a difficult character and his literary aspirations disturb several villagers, who fear that his story will read more like a novel…
