Trois ans après le passage de Katrina, la Nouvelle-Orléans fait encore penser à une ville fantôme ou à un pays du tiers monde. Ce qui demeure pourtant, c’est la musique. Lillian Boutté, Dr. Michael White et Armand « Sheik » Richardson luttent avec leur jazz contre la misère dans laquelle l’ouragan Gustav et les trois années d’abandon après Katrina ont plongé la ville. Le film les accompagne à l’étranger et à la Nouvelle-Orléans et montre comment cette musique, née de la misère, a le pouvoir de surmonter la crise qui menace aujourd’hui de détruire cette ville exceptionnelle et sa culture.

What proved itself indestructible, however, was the music of this Mississippi metropolis. Lillian Boutté, Dr. Michael White and Armand „Sheik »Richardson use notes to battle against the destitution left behind by hurricanes Katrina and Gustav and the total disregard for its victims. This film follows the trio in New Orleans and on tours abroad and tells how its music developed the power to overcome this crisis – an enduring crisis, which still threatens to destroy this former city and its culture.
