Le groupe Lindigo, dirigé par le jeune et charismatique Olivier Araste, est l’incarnation moderne du maloya, une tradition musicale héritée des esclaves. Jouer le maloya était encore interdit à La Réunion en 1981. Répondant à l’invitation du Havana World Music Festival, Olivier Araste et Lindigo se rendent à Cuba. Pour Olivier, ce voyage au pays de la salsa est l’occasion de se lancer dans une quête artistique dans les environs de La Havane. Il espère secrètement y enregistrer une partie de son nouveau disque. La démarche de Lindigo intrigue les Cubains.
Parmi leurs diverses rencontres, il y a celle avec les Muñequitos de Matanzas, illustres représentants de la rumba cubaine, un coup de foudre musical qui se concrétise en studio, avec l’enregistrement de 3 titres…
