La Colonie met au défi les postures amnésiques et délétères. C’est un lieu convivial qui engage, en toute indépendance, les chantiers du vivre et du penser ensemble.
En mettant en oeuvre ce projet, l’artiste Kader Attia entend poser au présent les questions de la décolonisation des peuples comme celle des savoirs, des comportements et des pratiques. Située dans un quartier
où se mélangent populations africaines, indiennes et asiatiques, à deux pas de la gare du nord et donc aux carrefours de l’Europe comme du monde, La Colonie vise à réunir – sans exclusion et à travers ces formidables tribunes que peuvent être la création artistique
et intellectuelle – toutes les identités et toutes les histoires, en particulier celles des minorités.
Tout à la fois repère et refuge, La Colonie est un espace à l’identité bigarrée : c’est un bar et une agora ; c’est un laboratoire et une salle de concert ; c’est un lieu de paroles, d’écoutes, de partages, d’expérimentations et de monstrations.

La Colonie is challenging amnesic and deleterious postures. It is a friendly place that, remaining independent, engages in thinking about living and sharing ideas together.
By implementing this project, the artist Kader Attia intends to ask in the present the questions surrounding the decolonization of peoples as well as that of knowledge, attitudes and practices. Located in a
neighborhood home to African, Indian and Asian populations,
close to the Gare du Nord and thus at the crossroads of Europe and the world, La Colonie aims to reunite – without exclusion and through these great platforms that are artistic and intellectual creation
– all identities and all stories, in particular those
of minorities.
Both landmark and shelter, La Colonie is a space of variegated identity: it is a bar and an agora; a laboratory and a concert hall; a place of words, of listening, of sharing, of experiments and of demonstrations.
