Les JCC 2023 rendent hommage à Hany Abu Assad

Pour leur 34ème édition, les Journées Cinématographiques de Carthage JCC 2023 rendent hommage cette année à l’une des figures emblématiques du cinéma palestinien contemporain, le cinéaste Hany Abu Assad. Habité par les maux et les espoirs de son peuple, ce réalisateur a fait naître une filmographie puisant dans la réalité et s’inspirant du vécu. Son passage notamment lors de la 25ème édition des JCC en 2014 a bien marqué les annales du festival et son palmarès. Tanit d’Or pour son long-métrage « Omar » (2013), Hany Abu Assad a raflé avec ce film trois autres prix : le Prix Jury Jeune, Prix du public et Prix du meilleur scénario.
Hany Abu Assad a acquis sa notoriété internationale grâce entre autres à ses deux films majeurs « Paradise Now » qui a remporté le prix Golden Globe du meilleur film étranger en 2006 et « Omar » qui a raflé le Tanit d’Or des JCC 2014, deux films qui, d’ailleurs, ont été nominés aux Oscars dans la section « Meilleur film étranger » ce qui atteste remarquablement de son succès à bien se positionner dans le cinéma mondial.
Cet hommage constitue pour l’édition 2023 des JCC une consécration particulière à un Homme de cinéma qui a largement contribué à mettre en place une cinématographie palestinienne qui rompt avec l’image classique et stéréotypée véhiculée sur le conflit palestino-israélien avec une filmographie inspirée d’histoires touchantes et de personnages vrais et de mettre en avant son remarquable parcours lors de cette nouvelle édition qui promet aussi d’être comme toujours un bon écrin pour d’agréables retrouvailles.
