L’été nous amène un nouveau site internet www.gacacafilms.com et une campagne de levée de fonds sur KICKSTARTER !
Chers amis, chers soutiens,
L’été est là, et amène avec lui de nouvelles aventures.
Après une longue réflexion, ma collègue rwandaise Assumpta Mugiraneza et moi-même avons décidé de démarrer un nouveau projet excitant et important, dont le succès dépend de votre volonté à nous AIDER et à CONTRIBUER.
Nous lançons une campagne de financement participatif sur www.kickstarter.com pour créer le CENTRE IRIBA POUR LE PATRIMOINE MULTIMEDIA au Rwanda.
Le CENTRE IRIBA, dont le nom signifie « la source » en kinyarwanda, regroupera plus d’un siècle d’archives audiovisuelles collectées auprès de plusieurs sources en Afrique et en Europe, et les mettra en accès public libre et gratuit.
Depuis 1994, les Rwandais vivent avec un génocide en héritage. Presque deux décennies plus tard, alors qu’ils cherchent ensemble le chemin vers une paix et une réconciliation à long terme, la découverte – ou la re-découverte – de leur histoire et de leur identité culturelle communes est essentielle à la consolidation d’une coexistence pacifique.
Nos plans pour le CENTRE IRIBA ont déjà suscité un fort enthousiasme avec deux engagements dont la mise à disposition d’une maison par l’ambassade de France à Kigali. Mais afin de lancer le CENTRE IRIBA en 2012, Assumpta Mugiraneza et moi-même avons besoin de mettre toute notre énergie dans ce projet.
Notre objectif est de récolter au moins ,000 en huit semaines par le biais de la campagne kickstarter que nous lançons aujourd’hui. Chaque niveau de contribution correspond à des récompenses choisies par nos soins !
Mais kickstarter fonctionne de telle manière que, si notre objectif n’est pas atteint, nous perdrons tous vos dons, aussi généreux soient-ils.

Summer is here with the launch of a new www.gacacafilms.com website, and a fundraising campaign on KICKSTARTER!
Dear friends and supporters,
Summer is in the air and, with the new season, come plenty of exciting adventures.
After much brainstorming, I am about to embark, along with Rwandan colleague Assumpta Mugiraneza, on a new, exciting and, I believe very important endeavor, whose success hinges on YOUR HELP and willingness to GIVE.
We are launching a fundraising campaign on www.kickstarter.com to create IRIBA CENTER FOR MULTIMEDIA HERITAGE in Rwanda.
IRIBA CENTER, whose name means « the source » in Kinyarwanda, will gather over a century of the country’s audiovisual history from sources in Africa and Europe, and make it free and accessible to the public.
Since 1994, all Rwandans share genocide as their central legacy. Nearly two decades later, as they search for a path to long-lasting recovery and peace, discovering -or re-discovering- their common history and cultural identity is essential to moving forward and to consolidating peaceful coexistence.
So far, the response to our plans has been tremendous, and we already have two major pledges, including a building from the French Embassy in Kigali. But in order to get IRIBA CENTER off the ground in 2012, Assumpta Mugiraneza and I need to devote all our energy to this project.
With this kickstarter campaign which we are launching today, we are aiming to raise at least ,000 over the next eight weeks. We are offering many great rewards for each donation tier, including the US Home Video DVD of MY NEIGHBOR MY KILLER, as soon as we release it (towards the end of 2011).
But, kickstarter is an all or nothing funding method, so if we don’t reach our goal, we will lose all your pledges, however generous.
