Né le 28 janvier 1972, à Stockholm, Suède), Tarik Saleh est à moitié suédois, à moitié égyptien. Il a démarré comme graphiste. Il a également réalisé plusieurs courts métrages d’animation. Il a réalisé – avec Erik Gandini – deux documentaires : Sacrificio, Who Betrayed Che Guevara ? (2001) et en 2006 GITMO (sur les conditions des prisonniers à Guantánamo). Metropia (2009) est son premier long métrage d’animation. Metropia (avec Vincent Gallo, Juliette Lewis et Stellan Skarsgård) a été sélectionné, entre autres, aux festivals de Venise, Sitges, Pusan, Varsovie, Lübeck et Fantoche 2010 (à Baden, en Suisse). Ensuite, il a réalisé Tommy (2014), un thriller avec Moa Gammel, Ola Rapace et Lykke Li, ainsi que des documentaires multiprimés qu’il a coréalisé comme Gitmo. Saleh a produit le vidéo clip I Follow Rivers pour Lykke Li, qui a eu près de 60 millions de vues sur YouTube.
Pour son troisième long métrage fiction, « The Nile Hilton Incident« , il a gagné le Grand Prix du Jury – World Cinema Dramatic (Sundance 2017). « Boy from Heaven (Walad min al Janna) » est son Quatrième long métrage fiction (Première Mondiale à Cannes 2022).

Tarik Saleh (born on 28 January 1972 in Stockholm, Sweden) is an Egyptian-Swedish television producer, animator, publisher, journalist and film director, who in the early 90s was one of Sweden’s most prominent graffiti artists. He has also worked as a TV host for Sveriges Television and is one of the founders of the production company Atmo.
His work often contains techniques such as montages, cut-out graphics and faces with manipulated lip synching.

Egyptian-Swedish Tarik Saleh started as a graffiti artist and has made animated shorts. Together with Erik Gandini he directed the documentaries Sacrificio, Who Betrayed Che Guevara? (2001) and Gitmo – the new rules of war (2006) that both sparked international debates.

His most recent film, Tommy (2014), was a thriller featuring Moa Gammel, Ola Rapace, and singer/songwriter Lykke Li. Saleh directed and co-wrote Metropia (2009 Venice International Film Festival), featuring Vincent Gallo, Juliette Lewis, and Stellan Skarsgård, and he has co-directed award-winning documentaries, such as Gitmo. Saleh produced the music video I Follow Rivers for Lykke Li, which has had nearly 60 million YouTube views.
