Christopher Laird

Christopher Laird a été enseignant, a publié le journal artistique Kairi et a dirigé un théâtre à Port of Spain pendant les années 70. Il a produit plus de 300 documentaires, drames et autres projets audiovisuels avec Banyan Ltd. durant les trente dernières années, recueillant un nombre important de récompenses nationales, régionales et internationales.

Il a supervisé la création de ce que l’on peut considérer comme la plus grande collection au monde de vidéos illustrant la culture caribéenne dans les archives de la Caribbean Film and Video Archive. Il est à présent le directeur général de Gayelle: The Channel, la première station de télévision gratuite de la région complètement caribéenne, co-fondée avec Errol Fabien en 2003. En 2009, Christopher a reçu un Doctorat d’Honneur de l’Université des Antilles.

Christopher Laird, has been a teacher, published the arts journal Kairi and ran a theatre in Port of Spain during the 1970s. He has produced over 300 documentaries, dramas and other video productions with Banyan Ltd. over the past 30 years garnering a score of national, regional and international awards.

He has overseen the establishment of what is arguably the world’s largest collection of Caribbean culture on video in the Caribbean Film and Video Archive. He is now CEO of Gayelle: The Channel, the region’s first all Caribbean free to air television station which he co founded with Errol Fabien in 2003. In 2009 Christopher was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University of the West Indies.

Christopher Laird has produced over 300 documentaries, dramas and other video productions with the pioneering Banyan Limited over the past 35 years, garnering multiple awards. In 2003, he co-founded the region’s first all-Caribbean television station, Gayelle. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of the Trinidad and Tobago Film Company.
