Nate Parker

Acteur, scénariste, réalisateur et producteur américain.

Nate Parker est un acteur, scénariste et réalisateur. Il est connu pour American Skin (2019) et Naissance d’une nation / The Birth of a Nation (2016).

Né à Norfolk (en Virginie, USA) le 18 novembre 1979, il est diplômé de l’Université d’Oklahoma. Il débute une carrière d’acteur et joue notamment dans les films The Great Debaters de Denzel Washington (2007), Red Hook Summer de Spike Lee (2012) et Non-Stop de Jaume Collet-Serra (2014). En 2015, il écrit et réalise son premier long métrage, Naissance d’une nation, dans lequel il tient également le rôle principal. Le film obtient le Grand Prix du Festival de Sundance l’année suivante. Son second long métrage American Skin (2019) a remporté le Prix du Meilleur film dans la section Sconfini. Il est aussi le fondateur de la Nate Parker Foundation, une organisation à but non-lucratif qui soutient les jeunes réalisateurs afro-américains.

Interprète de musicals, il a joué dans Red Tails, Le Secret de Lily Owens et Pride. Il a été lutteur All-American à la Great Bridge High School et à l’Université de l’Oklahoma. Parker consacre une partie de son temps libre à des activités caritatives, à un travail bénévole d’entraîneur sportif (cours de lutte) et au militantisme politique (partisan de Barack Obama en 2008).

Nate PARKER is an actor, screenwriter, producer and film Director. He is known for American Skin (2019) and The Birth of a Nation (2016).


Born in Norfolk, Virginia, he graduated from the university of Oklahoma. He began his career as an actor and appeared in such films as Denzel Washington’s The Great Debaters (2007), Spike Lee’s Red Hook Summer (2012), and Jaume Collet-Serra’s Non-Stop (2014). In 2015, he wrote, directed and starred in his debut feature film The Birth of a Nation. The film won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance in 2016. His second feature American Skin (2019) won the Best Film Prize (Sconfini section). He is also the founder of the Nate Parker Foundation, a non-profit organization which is dedicated to empowering young black filmmakers.
