David Herdies

Producteur et réalisateur suédois.

Né en 1974. Il a créé Momento Film dont il est le Gérant.

David Herdies (1974) is a Swedish producer, director and the Managing Director of Momento Film. He has studied Media, Religion and Culture and has also done a post-graduate course in Arts and Culture at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. Herdies started directing and producing films in 2008, and since then he has produced 20 feature documentaries and short films that has been screened and awarded at festivals around the world (Cannes, IDFA, Hot Docs, GIFF, Jihlava, CPH:DOX etc). Among his prior films can be mentioned « Madre » by Simón Mesa Soto (Official Short Film Competition, Cannes 2016), « The Guerilla Son (Director & Producer), Peabody-awarded « Give us the Money », « A Separation » and « Winter Buoy » by Cannes-awarded director Frida Kempff.

Since 2014, David Herdies is developing a fiction department at Momento Film. He has four feature films in development; « Madame Luna » by Binyam Berhane, « The Gods » by Ahang Bashi, « Amparo » by Simón Mesa Soto, and « Bathtub » by Vera Sjunnesson.

David Herdies is a member of the EAVE and EURODOC metworks and he has participated in various international workshops (ACE Producer’s Lab in Tokyo, Twelve for the future, Young Producer’s Club in Cannes etc). He is presently the Swedish representative for Nordisk Panorama, and has been a board member of Tempo Documentary Festival and the national institutional distributor Filmcentrum (chairman between 2011-12).
