Kevin MACDONALD est un réalisateur, scénariste et producteur. Né à Glasgow (Écosse, Royaume Uni), le 28 octobre 1967, il est connu pour « Un jour en septembre » (Oscar du meilleur Documentaire 1999), « The Last King of Scotland (Le Dernier roi d’Ecosse)« , 2006 (vainqueur du BAFTA et Oscar du Meilleur Acteur pour Forrest Whitaker) et « Désigné coupable (The Mauritanian) » en 2021 avec Tahar Rahim et Jodie Foster.

Le premier long métrage cinéma de Kevin Macdonald, UN JOUR EN SEPTEMBRE (sorti le 25 janvier 2006 en France), s’intéressait à l’attentat terroriste perpétré lors des Jeux Olympiques de Munich en 1972. Il a reçu l’Oscar du meilleur documentaire en 2000. Son deuxième film, LA MORT SUSPENDUE, d’après l’histoire vraie d’alpinistes qui ont lutté pour survivre dans de terribles circonstances dans les Andes péruviennes, était interprété par Brendan Mackey, Nicholas Aaron et Joe Simpson. Il a obtenu de nombreux prix dont le BAFTA Award et l’Evening Standard Award du meilleur film britannique. LA MORT SUSPENDUE est le documentaire qui a connu le plus grand succès de l’histoire du box-office britannique. Kevin Macdonald a réalisé plusieurs documentaires pour la télévision. Il a coédité le livre « The Faber Book of Documentary » en 1997 et a écrit « Emeric Pressburger : The Life and Death of a Screenwriter » en 1994. Il a obtenu avec ce dernier livre le BFI Film Book of the Year et a été sélectionné pour le NCR Non-fiction Prize. Il a écrit de nombreux articles notamment pour le Guardian, l’Observer et le Telegraph.

Born in Glasgow (Scotland), the UK on October 28, 1967, the filmmaker, producer and screenwriter has made numerous award-winning documentaries including « One Day in September » (1999 Oscar for Best Documentary); « Touching the Void » (2003 BAFTA for Best British Film of the Year); « Life in a Day » (2011 Panorama) as well as various artist biographies including « Marley » (BAFTA-nominated in 2013). His most successful feature films include « The Last King of Scotland » (winner of a BAFTA and a Best Actor Oscar for Forrest Whitaker), the political thriller « State of Play » and « Black Sea« .
