« You have touched a woman but have struck a rock » is an echo (a slogan) from the 1956 march by 20 000 women on the Union Buildings in Pretoria, protesting the issuing of pass books to black women. Using a collage of rare footage and interviews with some of the women who were actively involved, the film is a document of a brave demonstration against injustice.
