Based on research into the circulation of images in the Arab world, « This Day » is a voyage through geography and memory via a recording of the everyday. Beginning in the 1950s with historian Jibrail Jabbur’s photograph of a Bedouin woman holding a jar on her head in a village at the edge of the Syrian desert, the video acts as a laboratory in which images-drawn from institutional and private archives-gain new meaning when viewed alongside one another.
