William Kwamkwamba construit un moulin à vent avec de vieilles choses sans valeur en se basant sur une image trouvée dans un livre. Ce moulin génère de l’énergie pour sa famille et son village. C’est l’histoire d’une aventure qui débute dans le pauvre pays du Malawi vers le célèbre Dartmouth College qui lui propose d’aller y étudier. Toutefois, en parallèle avec la popularité, on ressent également le doute et la mélancolie du prodige qui tente de vivre à hauteur de son ambition et celle des autres. « William and the Windmill » est un récit fascinant à propos des bons et mauvais côtés d’une soudaine célébrité et de la vie entre deux mondes différents.
