Le premier long métrage de la cinéaste rwandaise Anisia Uzeyman est une tournée fascinante dans l’underground afropunk dans laquelle deux artistes (joués par la réalisatrice et son vrai mari, le poète hip-hop Saul Williams) tombent amoureux lors d’un voyage aux États-Unis. Tourné entièrement sur iPhones dans un brouillard hallucinant d’images saturées de couleurs, le film bien intitulé Dreamstates est une vision de l’Amérique de l’autre monde vue par un étranger.

The debut feature from Rwandan filmmaker Anisia Uzeyman is a mesmerizing tour through the Afropunk underground in which a pair of artists (played by the director and her real life husband, hip-hop poet Saul Williams) fall in love while traveling the United States. Shot entirely on iPhones in a hallucinatory haze of color-saturated images, the aptly titled Dreamstates is an otherworldly vision of America as seen through the eyes of an outsider.
