Shola Lynch was born in New York City. She has a master’s degree in American History from the University of California, Riverside and a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University. She honed her filmmaking skills as a visual researcher and associate producer for Ken Burns and Florentine Films before making her feature documentary debut Chisholm’72-Unbought & Unbossed (2004). Free Angela & All Political Prisoners (2012) is her second feature documentary.
