The purpose of the Festival is to showcase films from around the world, and to stimulate and promote a home-grown film industry.
As a socially conscious movement with a political purpose, OIA must generate images and representations of its own community that promote a sense of belonging and pride, films that explore our particular identity, lifestyles and concerns.
Out In Africa Festival will hold two main Film Festivals during 2011.
Cape Town & Johannesburg – Friday 1st April to Sunday 10th April 2010 (9 days)
Venues: Nu Metro, Hyde Park
Nu Metro, V&A Waterfront
Cape Town & Johannesburg – Friday 21st October to Sunday 30th October (9 days)
Venues: Nu Metro, Hyde Park
Nu Metro, V&A Waterfront
Works of all genres and formats may be submitted. The deadline for submissions for the April Festival is 28th February 2011. The second submission deadline is 30th June 2011.
Preview copies (DVD only!) must be accompanied by our entry form. All submitted films will form part of the Video Library, where they can be previewed by buyers, curators, representatives of other festivals and other professionals.
