ZIMOkAD - Zimbabwe Mozambique Cultural Art Dialogue is being held in Maputo, from 3 to 29 September 2012, bringing together the artists Tapiwa Chapo and Charles Kamangwana, from Zimbabwe, and Butcheca and Titos Pelembe from Mozambique.
The four artists prepare together a collective exhibition to be showcased on the 18th September, at Franco-Mozambican Cultural Centre, in Maputo.
The exhibition is the result of a two weeks meeting and artistic residency at the Visual Arts National School in Maputo (ENAV). Between 3 and 15 September, the artists gather to exchange ideas and share experiences, exploring the techniques of painting, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media and installation to create this collective exhibition.
Under the impulse of the Embassy of Mozambique in Zimbabwe, the project ZIMOkAD - Zimbabwe Mozambique Cultural Art Dialogue was born from the desire to create, collaborate and share experiences. It is also an attempt to strengthen the ties of cooperation between Mozambique and Zimbabwe, not only by the geographical contiguity, but especially by the historical and cultural relations between both countries.
This meeting is the pretext for dialogue and to discover similarities and differences, to reflect on what keeps them close or distant.
