“100% DAKAR – more than art” est un portrait des arts créatifs à Dakar au Sénégal. Dakar prend son essor et son énergie vitale se retrouve dans toutes les facettes créatives, artistiques et culturelles de la ville. Beaucoup de jeunes artistes sont le miroir du changement de leur génération.“100% DAKAR „ rend visite à des créateurs de mode, des musiciens Hip Hop, des artistes du graffiti, un photographe, un blogueur d’art, des danceurs et beaucoup d’autres artistes et entrepreneurs d’art qui prennent fait et cause pour la créativité, la passion, la conscience sociale et qui luttent collectivement et créativement contre tous les carcans économiques et politiques sous la bannière de „l’union fait la force“.

Réalisatrice

Sandra Krampelhuber, anthropologue culturelle autrichienne, a obtenu son diplôme à l’université de Vienne en 2002. Elle s’ìntéresse en particulier aux domaines de la production artistique et culturelle de l’Afrique et de sa diaspora. En 2006, elle a réalisé le documentaire “QUEENS OF SOUND” sur les femmes dans l’industrie de la musique en Jamaique, qui a été présenté à divers festivals dans le monde entier. Cette année là, elle est allée à Dakar, Sénégal, pour la première fois. Un voyage qui a été l’inspiration de son dernier film, “100% Dakar” où elle a réalisé un portrait des artistes et musiciens de Dakar, une scène en plein essor culturel.

“100% DAKAR – more than art” is a portrait about the creative arts scene in Dakar, Senegal. Dakar booms with live and this energy can also be found in the creative, artistic and cultural expressions of the city. Many young artists in Dakar took on the role as agents of change of their generation. “100% Dakar” visits fashion designers, Hip Hop musicians, graffiti artists, a photographer, an art blogger, dancers and many other artists and cultural entrepreneurs who stand for creativity, passion, social conscience and a collective, creative fight against all economic and political burdens in the sense of “l’union fait la force” (“unity is strength”).

Director’s Biography:

Sandra Krampelhuber is an Austrian Cultural Anthropologist. She graduated from the University of Vienna in 2002. Since then she is interested in the various fileds of cultural and artistic productions in African and African Diaspora countries. In 2006 she directed the music documentary “QUEENS OF SOUND” about females in the Jamaican music industry. The film was shown at filmfestivals worldwide. It was also in 2006 that she travelled to Dakar, Senegal for her first time and after many encounters with Senegalese artists and musicians over many years, she decided to portray this thriving scene in her latest film “100% Dakar”.
