Original Director’s Cut.

English

Swedish filmmaker Persson had long been settled in South Africa, making wildlife films and coordinating local shoots by visiting directors such as Cornel Wilde and Ivan Tors, when he put together a documentary on South Africa’s increasing isolation from the rest of the world. The South African censors went ballistic and ordered extensive cuts, and the local distributor, MGM, pulled out of their distribution agreement on the film. Released in a pale shadow of its original cut as THE SOUTH AFRICANS, the film caused little fuss. The original cut, however, had been languishing in the South African National Film Archives and, released from banishment, can finally be seen.
This is the original Director’s Cut.
