La construction d’un nouveau village en pleine brousse au Mali évoque naturellement le commencement du monde, la Genèse. Comment ne pas s’interroger sur leur Genèse, en écoutant l’histoire des villageois de Marakala, situé à 200 kms au sud de Bamako ? Ils avaient cru trouver le paradis en allant travailler en France, en Alsace. Mais le paradis, ils l’imaginaient autrement : ils décidèrent donc de revenir dans leur patrie, mais cette fois-ci, pour y fonder ensemble leur village, leur paradis. Il a suffi de sept jours à Dieu pour créer le monde… mais les villageois ne sont pas Dieu et, depuis dix ans, ils peinent ! Ouvriers et citadins en France, ils s’efforcent de redevenir paysans et villageois en Afrique…

The construction of a new village in the heart of the Malian bush naturally evokes the beginning of the world, the Genesis. How can you not wonder about the genesis of the villagers from Marakala, 200 kms south of Bamako, when listening to their story ? They thought they had found paradise when they went to work in Alsace, France, but the paradise they had imagined was somewhat different. They decided to go back to their country to found a village together, to found their own paradise. God only needed seven days to create the world… but the villagers, not being God, have been working hard on their village for the last ten years. Workers and city dwellers in France, they have forced themselves to become peasants and villagers again in Africa…
