Oliwina, une jeune journaliste, retourne dans sa ville natale d’Agouwé au Gabon – qu’elle a quittée pendant quinze ans en raison d’un événement traumatisant – pour enquêter sur la disparition de
son jeune frère. À son arrivée, les corps de cinq enfants non identifiés sont retrouvés dans une mangrove voisine. Dans cette petite ville entourée d’océan et de mangroves, le nom de Mami Wata
est sur toutes les lèvres.
