Les frappes du groupe terroriste Boko Haram dans le village de Kolofata, à l’Extrême-Nord du Cameroun durent depuis 2013. Même si actuellement leurs exactions se raréfient, la menace reste réelle ; omniprésente. Dans cet univers post apocalyptique, un groupe d’enfants en classe de Cours Préparatoire s’adaptent et se réinventent en jonglant entre études occidentale, coranique, et d’immenses tâches ménagères et champêtres qui leur incombent. Constamment sujets à un relâchement quand tout devient très sérieux, ils trouvent toujours du temps entre deux corvées pour se divertir. Cette tragédie a pour principaux personnages Falta, Ladji, Ibrahim, Mohammed, Ismaela et Maloum. Ils ont tous entre 4 ans et 11 ans, très dynamiques, toujours en perpétuel mouvement, tout en se forgeant leur place dans une société où les figures parentales sont en train de disparaître. Falta et Ladj sont frère et soeur. Leur père et leur oncle ont été tués par une déflagration déclenchée par un kamikaze sous leurs yeux effrayés d’enfants. Aujourd’hui, ils aident leur mère dans divers travaux champêtres et domestiques tout en se focalisant sur leurs études. Ladji très timide, parle peu et suit constamment sa grande sœur dans tout ce qu’elle fait. Falta en véritable meneuse, dirige d’une main de fer les garçons.

The terrorist group Boko Haram has been striking the village of Kolofata in the Far North of Cameroon since 2013. Even if their exactions are now rarefied, the threat remains real; omnipresent. In this post-apocalyptic universe, a group of children in the Cours Préparatoire class adapt and reinvent themselves by juggling Western and Koranic studies with the immense household and farming tasks that fall to them. Constantly subject to slacking off when everything becomes very serious, they always find time between chores to entertain themselves. The main characters in this tragedy are Falta, Ladji, Ibrahim, Mohammed, Ismaela and Maloum. They are all between 4 and 11 years old, very dynamic, always on the move, while forging their place in a society where parental figures are disappearing. Falta and Ladj are brother and sister. Their father and uncle were killed by a suicide bomber before their frightened eyes as children. Today, they help their mother with various farm and household chores while focusing on their studies. Ladji is very shy, speaks little and constantly follows his older sister in everything she does. Falta is a true leader and directs the boys with an iron fist.
