Nourrie par sa passion pour les affaires criminelles, une jeune femme cherche des réponses lorsqu'une adolescente est retrouvée morte dans le désert et que l'enquête de la police piétine.
Noelle Al Saffan, une divorcée de 29 ans, retourne dans sa petite ville natale pour un nouveau départ. Fan des podcasts sur des crimes, elle obtient un travail administratif banal au poste de police local, numérisant d'anciens dossiers. Sa vie change lorsque le corps d'une adolescente est trouvé dans son uniforme scolaire, sans pièce d'identité.
Hantée par la mort tragique de la fille, Noelle décide d'enquêter. Elle utilise sa perspicacité dans le monde caché des femmes pour identifier la victime, se liant d'amitié avec un groupe de femmes et d'autres personnages qui semblent tous liés au crime. Pour résoudre le mystère, elle doit remettre en question ses idées préconçues sur les femmes et leurs menaces.

A grieving mother, fueled by her passion for true crime, seeks answers when a teenage girl is found dead in the desert and the police investigation stalls.
Noelle Al Saffan, a 29-year-old divorcee, returns to her small hometown for a fresh start. A fan of true crime podcasts, she gets a mundane clerical job at the local police station, digitizing old files. Her life changes when a teenage girl's body is found in her school uniform, with no ID. Haunted by the girl's senseless death, Noelle decides to investigate. She uses her insight into the hidden world of women to identify the victim, befriending a group of women and other characters that all seem connected to the crime. To solve the mystery, she must challenge her preconceived notions about women and their threats.
