Guet Ndar, le quartier des pêcheurs à Saint-Louis du Sénégal, est depuis plusieurs années menacé par la montée des eaux causant des dégâts humains et matériels considérables. Un soir de tempête la maison des voisins de Djibril et Marie est emportée par l'océan. Pour Marie, le danger est trop grand : elle veut déménager et mettre ses trois filles à l'abri. Pour Djibril, il est impensable de quitter son quartier, son métier et son mode de vie. Il est persuadé de pouvoir lutter contre les assauts de l'océan…
