Psychothérapeute et mère de deux adolescents, Doris tombe amoureuse de Metin, un inspecteur de la police criminelle allemande d'origine turque. Ils décident rapidement de vivre ensemble, obligeant ainsi leurs enfants respectifs à cohabiter. Confrontant le spectateur à ce choc culturel, cette comédie décapante et rafraîchissante présente, au travers de dialogues ciselés et de situations cocasses, les clichés qui opposent des communautés qui, dans la société allemande, vivent côte à côte sans jamais se croiser.
