Le 27 octobre 2005, deux jeunes de Clichy-sous-Bois meurent électrocutés dans un site EDF. Un troisième, grièvement brûlé, donne l’alerte. Dès lors deux versions des faits s’affrontent : celle des jeunes qui assurent avoir été poursuivis par les policiers en revenant d’une partie de football, celle des autorités qui, par la voix du ministre de l’Intérieur, nient la course poursuite. Le soir même, les premières voitures brûlent. C’est le début d’une crise qui durera trois semaines. Alex, journaliste belge, débarque à Clichy-sous-Bois pour enquêter sur la tragédie. Aidé par les avocats des familles des victimes, il essaie de reconstituer l’enchaînement des faits, en même temps qu’il découvre, au fil de ses rencontres, l’ampleur du malaise en banlieue…

On October 27, 2005, two youngsters from Clichy-sous-Bois were fatally electrocuted in an EDF power plant. A third youth, who was badly burned, gave the alert. There were two versions of what happened: that of the young people who claim they were pursued by police on their way back from a soccer match, and the version of the authorities which, through the Interior Ministry, denied that there had been any pursuit. That very evening, the first cars were torched. The ensuing crisis lasted three weeks. Alex, a Belgian journalist, arrived in Clichy-sous-Bois to report on the tragedy. Assisted by the lawyers of the victims’families, he tried to reconstitute the chain of events and at the same time discovered, through his contacts, the extent of unrest in the suburbs.
