Un jour mon ami m’a dit : « J’aimerais t’emmener chez moi au pays Aïmara dans l’extrême nord du Chili, une terre écrasée entre les Andes et le Pacifique ».
Dans son exil, il m’a appris ses origines, l’histoire de son histoire. Quelques mois plus tard, nous avons laissé le printemps de France pour les glaces du Parinacota et le désert d’Atacama. Un rêve de 5 000 kilomètres de la frontière péruvienne et bolivienne à Valparaiso.
C’est la terre de tous les conquérants ; des Incas Quetchua à la résistance Aïmara et Atacamène ; des conquistadors à l’indépendance ; du sacrifice d’Allende à la dictature de Pinochet. Qui es-tu Chilien mon ami ? Tu rêves de t’envoler comme le condor et avant de mourir tu regarderas comme lui, ce long pétale de mer, de vin et de neige dont parle Pablo Neruda et tu chuchoteras : « Je suis de cette terre ».
J’ai filmé son pays comme je l’ai aimé. Avec lui je vous ai rapporté les visages et les regards de ceux qui habitent l’un des plus beaux pays du monde : le sien.
