Synopsis
On estime que d’ici 2010, 26 millions d’enfants, la plupart vivant sur le continent africain, seront orphelins du Sida.

Tourné dans la région rurale d’Ixobho, ce court-métrage raconte l’histoire d’une fillette dont la mère vient de mourir du Sida. Pour tenter d’apaiser la douleur causée par ce deuil, elle fait un dessin de sa maman, puis aide un ami à construire un cerf-volant…
« Quand je ne serai plus là » dit la mère à son enfant, dans la chanson du film, « lève la tête vers le ciel, le ciel qui a donné naissance au soleil, à la lune et aux étoiles… ».

Set in rural KwaZulu Natal, this poignant short film shows a young girl struggling to cope with her grief and confusion after losing her mother to AIDS. When a boy allows her to attach a picture she has drawn of her mother to his kite, this act of friendship and the shared joy of flying a kite together make the girl smile again.
