La Otra Ciudad met en scène la rencontre de deux adolescents à un moment crucial de leur vie. Paco, 16 ans, d’origine modeste, essaye de trouver son chemin dans un milieu familial et social défavorisé. Il vit dans un appartement HLM avec son père alcoolique et au chômage et un frère violent trafiquant de drogues. Ses seules références positives dans cet environnement hostile sont sa sœur qui le défend devant le grand frère, et un professeur très impliqué qui essaye d’encourager et de stimuler le bon élève qu’il est. Nadia de son côté, adolescente d’origine marocaine, souhaite aller à l’université. Pourtant, son père et son frère, qui veulent réduire sa future vie à celle d’épouse et de mère, le lui interdisent. La rencontre entre Nadia et Paco est comme une lumière d’espérance, même si elle est pleine d’obstacles.

Two youths meet at a crucial moment in their lives. Paco is 16, of modest background and is seeking his way in an underprivileged domestic and social milieu. He lives in a housing project with his jobless, alcoholic father and violent drug dealer brother. His only positive references in this hostile environment are his sister whom he defends against his big brother and a highly concerned teacher who tries to encourage the good student in him. Nadia is a Moroccan-born teenager who wants to go to the university. But her father and brother want to restrict her future to being a wife and forbid here. When Nadia and Paco meet there is a flash of hope, even if many obstacles lay ahead.
