Won Tan Nara, Ballet guinéen de France, a été créé en août 2006 par le danseur chorégraphe Moustapha Bangoura, qui en est le directeur artistique, et l’association Polyphoniques.

Dans la lignée des grands ballets de danse traditionnelle de Guinée, une vingtaine de danseurs, musiciens, acrobates nous font partager un patrimoine musical et chorégraphique d’une richesse et d’une diversité époustouflantes.

Chorégraphies et danses de masques, chants, comédie, mime, acrobatie, emportés par les sonorités vibrantes des instruments traditionnels (djembés, tambours de basse, balafon, bolon, krins, kora, gongoma…), ce spectacle en deux parties nous convie à traverser l’histoire mythique de cette région d’Afrique de l’Ouest, en fait revivre avec intensité les légendes, la force et la magie.

Won Tan Nara, Guinean Ballet of France, was both founded in June 2006 by the dancer-choreographer Moustapha Bangoura, his artistic director, and a french association, Polyphoniques.

The rich heritage of traditional Guinean ballet breathes life into this stunningly diverse performance. Dozens of musicians, dancers and acrobats share their awe-inspiring cultural treasures.

Choreographies, mask dance, song, theater, mime and acrobatics jump from the stage to the vibrant music of traditional instruments (djembes, bass drums, balafon, bolon, krins, kora, gongoma…), and the two part show brings the audience through the mythic history of this West African region, thus bringing back to life its legends, strength and potent magic.
