Le projet Chivanhu par la musicienne Stella Chiweshe

Pendant cinq décennies, la reine mbira Stella Chiweshe a partagé son amour pour cette musique spirituelle avec un public du monde entier. Aujourd’hui âgée de 74 ans et basée à Berlin depuis le début des années 1980, elle réalise son rêve ultime: créer un centre pour la mbira dans son pays d’origine, le Zimbabwe, et l’offrir en retour à son peuple.
Le projet vise à préserver, approfondir et promouvoir la culture traditionnelle mbira, en la transmettant à la prochaine génération par la pratique et l’enseignement de la musique ainsi que de la danse, du chant et de l’artisanat. Chivanhu signifie « humanité » en langue Shona et le Centre Chivanhu sera un établissement public: un espace d’apprentissage, d’expression et de rencontre entre enfants, jeunes, anciens et musiciens. Au cœur de ce projet se trouve également l’autonomisation de la communauté locale en fournissant une infrastructure d’eau, d’électricité, de bâtiments et de travail pour la population locale.

Le lieu du centre a été choisi et les premiers travaux sur le village ont déjà été effectués, mais un projet ambitieux comme celui-ci nécessite des financements supplémentaires et le soutien de personnes qui en diffusent la nouvelle. Stella doit collecter 24.000€ pour construire l’infrastructure de Chivanhu et pour ce processus, elle aimerait vous demander votre aide. Over five decades, the mbira queen Stella Chiweshe has shared her love of this spiritual music with audiences around the world. Now 74 and based in Berlin since the early 1980s, she is realising her ultimate dream: creating a centre for the mbira in her home country of Zimbabwe and giving back to her people.
The project aims to preserve, deepen and promote traditional mbira culture, passing it on to the next generation through the practice and teaching of music as well as related dance, singing and craft. Chivanhu means ‘humanity’ in the Shona language and the Chivanhu Centre will be a public facility: a space of learning, expression and encounter between children, young people, elders and musicians. At the heart of this project is also very much the empowerment of the local community by providing an infrastructure of water, power, buildings and work for the local people.
