« About a Boy » prix du public au Nollywoodweek Film Festival 2021

« About a Boy », une histoire sur les jeux psychologiques entre un écrivain et sa muse, réalisée par le premier réalisateur Diji Aderogba, a reçu la plus haute distinction du festival de cinéma Nollywoodweek 2021 (www.Nollywoodweek.com), le Prix du Public.
L’annonce du film lauréat a marqué le point culminant de l’édition 2021 du festival, où 15 longs métrages et 18 courts métrages – d’Afrique et de la diaspora africaine – ont été présentés à un public mondial. Pour la première fois en huit ans d’existence, Nollywoodweek a diffusé tous les films exclusivement en ligne.
La directrice du festival, Nadira Shakur, a déclaré : « Nous avons été ravis de voir que le public mondial s’est montré pour soutenir et célébrer le talent et l’ingéniosité nigérians dans la réalisation de films. Cette année, nous avons présenté des films du reste du continent et de la diaspora et nous avons constaté un véritable intérêt et une appréciation pour des histoires incroyables telles que « About a Boy », comme en témoigne le Prix du Public. »
Le réalisateur du film, Diji Aderogba, a déclaré : « Je suis reconnaissant à Dieu. Je suis très heureux pour Adio et Funmi, mes producteurs. Ils ont travaillé très dur. Faire partie de ce festival du film et remporter le prix du public est tout simplement incroyable ! ».
Le réalisateur Diji Aderogba recevra l’utilisation d’une gamme d’objectifs haut de gamme de la marque Angénieux avec lesquels il pourra tourner son prochain film. Parmi les précédents lauréats figurent des favoris internationaux de Nollywood tels que The Wedding Party, Isoken etKing of Boys.
En plus des projections de films, le festival de 4 jours a proposé au public des séances de questions-réponses après chaque film, des tables rondes sur l’écriture de scénarios, le financement dans le secteur de l’animation africaine et la distribution de contenus africains.
Nadira Shakur a ajouté « les possibilités pour le public d’interagir avec les cinéastes et les stars ont toujours été une partie essentielle de notre festival et il était important que nous maintenions cet aspect via notre hub de mise en réseau dans l’édition en ligne de cette année. Nous tenons à remercier le public et nos partenaires de nous avoir accompagnés dans ce voyage extraordinaire ! Nous sommes impatients de nous connecter à nouveau avec tout le monde l’année prochaine. »

« About a Boy », a story about the psychological games played between a writer and his muse by first-time director Diji Aderogba received the highest honor at the 2021 Nollywoodweek (www.Nollywoodweek.com) film festival, the Audience appreciation award known as the Prix du Public.
The announcement of the winning film marked the culmination of the 2021 edition of the Festival, where 15 feature-length and 18 short films – from Africa and the African Diaspora – were showcased to a global audience. For the first time in its 8-year history, Nollywoodweek streamed all the films exclusively online.
Festival Director Nadira Shakur said « We were delighted to see that the global audience showed up to support and celebrate Nigerian talent and ingenuity in film-making. This year we showcased films from the rest of the continent and the Diaspora and saw a genuine interest in and appreciation for incredible stories such as « About a Boy » as evidenced by the Prix du Public. »
The film’s director Diji Aderogba said « I’m grateful to God. I’m so happy for Adio and Funmi, my producers. They put in a lot of hard work. Being a part of this film festival and winning the Audience Award is just amazing! »
Director Diji Aderogba will receive use of a range of top-of-the-line lenses from the Angénieux brand with which to shoot their next film. Previous winners include international Nollywood favorites such as The Wedding Party, Isoken and King of Boys.
In addition to film screenings, the 4-day film festival offered audiences Q&A sessions after each film, panel discussions on screenwriting, funding within the African animation sector and distributing African content.
