Meilleur film, meilleur réalisateur, meilleure photographie, meilleur décor, meilleur acteur de second rôle (Hoji Fortuna) et meilleure actrice de second rôle (Marlene Longage) : Viva Riva ! a raflé six prix à l’African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA). Nominé dans douze catégories, il était très attendu par le public et les professionnels réunis lors de la cérémonie de ce dimanche 27 mars 2011 à Yenagoa, capitale de l’État de Bayelsa au Nigeria.
Viva Riva ! est l’histoire d’un homme qui brûle ses ailes pour le goût de la liberté. Un homme qui vit ses rêves à Kinshasa, une ville des espoirs brisés. Il veut tout : l’argent, les femmes et l’ivresse.
Avec ces nouvelles récompenses, le film écrit et réalisé par Djo Tunda wa Munga (RDC) poursuit son succès international à travers de grands festivals tels que Berlin, Toronto, Hong Kong, festival SXSW et le Festival de Film Pan Africain (PANAF) à Los Angeles où il a remporté le prix du meilleur long métrage.
Produit par Boris van Gils, Michaël Goldberg, Djoghlaf et Tunda wa Munga, co-produit par Steven Markovitz, Viva Riva !, tourné à Kinshasa, met en vedette de jeunes acteurs comme Manie Malone,
Patsha Bay, Hoji Fortuna et Marlene Longage. Les ventes mondiales sont gérées par Beta Cinema. À ce jour, Viva Riva ! est vendu aux USA, au Royaume-Uni, au Canada, au Benelux, en Nouvelle-Zélande, en Australie et en Afrique du Sud. Le film sortira au Royaume-Uni le 27 mai 2011 (Metrodome Distribution), suivi par une sortie américaine au mois de juin 2011 (Music Box Films) et enfin, en Afrique du Sud, sur le continent de ses héros (Indigenous Film Distribution). Les producteurs travaillent actuellement sur un plan de diffusion du film à travers toute l’Afrique.
