Fédération Africaine de la Critique Cinématographique : un nouveau bureau

Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), 28 février 2019 – La critique africaine se repositionne en faveur de l’industrie du cinéma en Afrique et dans la diaspora. Présents à la 26ème édition du Festival panafricain du cinéma et de la télévision de Ouagadougou (Fespaco) dans le cadre de l’atelier de critique cinématographique et du prix de la critique africaine, les critiques de cinéma africains ont procédé jeudi 28 février 2019 au renouvellement de leurs instances dirigeantes. A l’issue de l’Assemblée Générale Ordinaire tenue dans la capitale burkinabè, la journaliste culturelle et critique sénégalaise Fatou Kiné Sène a été élue présidente de la Fédération Africaine de la Critique Cinématographique (FACC) pour un mandat de trois (3) ans.

Pour la première fois depuis sa création en 2004 à Tunis, la FACC élit à sa tête une femme pour conduire cette grande famille des critiques de cinéma d’Afrique. Présidente actuelle de l’Association sénégalaise des critiques de cinéma et ancienne secrétaire générale adjointe de la FACC, Fatou Kiné Sène vient avec une expérience avérée en matière de presse culturelle et de critique d’art. « Nous allons repositionner la Fédération Africaine de la Critique Cinématographique dans l’industrie du cinéma en Afrique à travers des partenariats stratégiques au profit de ses membres et des cinémas d’Afrique », a déclaré la nouvelle présidente à l’issue de l’assemblée générale.

Composé de sept (07) membres élus pour un mandat de trois (03) ans, le nouveau bureau de la FACC est composé de quatre (04) femmes et trois (03) hommes représentant l’Afrique du nord, l’Afrique centrale et l’Afrique de l’ouest. Cette assemblée générale a eu lieu en présence d’une forte délégation de pays francophones et anglophones.

Le nouveau bureau exécutif de la FACC est composé comme suit : Présidente : Fatou KINE SENE (Sénégal), 1er Vice-Président : Ahmed Shawky (Egypte), 2ème Vice-Présidente : Fatoumata Sagnane (Guinée), Secrétaire Général : Abraham Bayili (Burkina-Faso), Secrétaire Générale Adjointe: Sahar El Echi (Tunisie), Trésorière Générale : Pélagie NG’onana (Cameroun), Chargé de Communication: Charles Ayetan (Togo). L’assemblée générale a élu également deux commissaires aux comptes : Renate Lemba (RDC) et Rodéric Dèdègnonhou (Bénin).

Pour le président du bureau sortant, le Marocain Khalil Demmoun, « un travail de refonte et de repositionnement de la FACC est entrepris depuis quelques années et l’on espère que le prochain bureau continuera dans la même lancée afin de renforcer la fédération en vue de sa contribution efficiente au développement de l’industrie du cinéma en Afrique et dans le monde ». En élisant un bureau composé en majorité de femmes, la FACC montre le chemin pragmatique pour joindre l’acte au plaidoyer sur la question du genre dans le cinéma.

Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), February 28, 2019 – African critics are repositioning themselves in favor of the film industry in Africa and its diaspora. Present at the 26th edition of the Panafrican film and television festival of Ouagadougou (Fespaco) for a film criticism workshop and the African Critics’ Awards, the African critics of cinema renewed on Thursday, February 28, 2019 their governing board. At the end of the Ordinary General Assembly held in the capital of Burkina Faso, the Senegalese cultural journalist and critic Fatou Kiné Sène was elected president of the African Federation of Film Critics (AFFC/FACC) for a three (3) years term.

For the first time since its creation in 2004 at Tunis, the AFFC/FACC has elected a woman to lead this great family of film critics from Africa. Current President of the Senegalese Association of Film Critics and former Deputy General Secretary of the AFFC/FACC, Fatou Kiné Sène comes with a proven experience in the field of cultural press and art criticism. « We will reposition the African Federation of Film Critics in Africa’s film industry through strategic partnerships for the benefit of its members and African cinemas, » said the new president after the General Assembly.

Composed of seven (07) members elected for a term of three (03) years, the new office of the FACC is composed of four (04) women and three (03) men representing North Africa, Central Africa and West Africa. This general assembly took place in the presence of a strong delegation of French and English speaking countries.

The new Executive Board of the Federation is composed as follows: President: Fatou Kiné Sène (Senegal), 1st Vice-President: Ahmed Shawky (Egypt), 2nd Vice-President: Fatoumata Sagnane (Guinea), Secretary General: Abraham Bayili (Burkina Faso), Deputy General Secretary: Sahar El Echi (Tunisia), Treasurer General: Pélagie NG’onana (Cameroon), Communication Officer: Charles Ayetan (Togo). The general assembly also elected two auditors: Renate Lemba (DRC) and Rodéric Dèdègnonhou (Benin).

For the president of the previous board, the Moroccan Khalil Demmoun, « a work of overhaul and repositioning of the Federation has been undertaken for a few years and it is hoped that the new executive board will continue in the same direction to strengthen the federation with a view to its efficient contribution to the development of the film industry in Africa and around the world « . By electing a mostly women’s board, the AFFC/FACC shows the pragmatic path to join the act to advocate on the issue of gender in cinema.
