LaliBoi (qui signifie “garçon de la campagne”), également connu sous le nom de Siphosenkosi Nkodlwane, est un parolier, guitariste et trompettiste sud-africain qui a fusionné ses racines rurales xhosa avec la saveur des townships pour créer l’un des albums de hip-hop sud-africains les plus passionnants de ces dernières années, appelé Siyangaphi. Cet album exprime de manière colorée tout ce qui rend la musique contemporaine sud-africaine si passionnante en ce moment, une richesse culturelle authentique et pertinente tout en gardant un œil sur l’innovation et l’avenir. MC hautement qualifié, le rap bondissant de LaliBoi vous fait découvrir toute la beauté de la langue xhosa.
Son titre Somandla extrait de son album Siyangaphi est inspiré d’anciens chants Xhosa qui étaient chantés par les devins et les chamans d’autrefois. L’histoire est basée sur une prière à Somandla (Dieu de la virilité et du pouvoir). Dans ce clip, LaliBoi demande à ses ancêtres de le guider et de le protéger, non seulement dans son voyage musical mais aussi pour qu’ils le bénissent. Le clip est une métaphore de la narration basée sur la relation entre LaliBoi et son grand-père. Comment LaliBoi, en tant qu’homme adulte, gère la tâche de devoir continuer l’héritage familial de son grand-père après la mort de ce dernier. The music video is a metaphor of a narration based on the relationship between LaliBoi and his grandfather and the bond between the two. How LaliBoi as a grown man handles the task of having to continue his grandfather’s family legacy after his passing. We see LaliBoi migrating from the rural areas to pursue a music career in the city of Johannesburg with big dreams and faith on Somandla. See
