5th bfm International Film Festival 2003
Celebrating 5 years as the UK’s premier black film event
The 5th bfm International film festival 2003 now celebrates 5 years of
screening ground breaking Independent films in the UK.
This year has the biggest programme of films yet, a fortnight of over 60 features, shorts, documentaries and animation at the ICA, Rio and Prince Charles Cinema.
The festival kicks of with the opening night gala film For Real on Friday the 5th followed by a Q & A session with the director, Tim Reid.
Our special guest Tim Reid (star of Sister Sister) will be taking part in our Filmmakers Master Class together with Leon Herbert (Director of Emotional Backgammon) to discuss cross Atlantic filmmaking. This event takes place on the 7th of September at the Aspirations event at Olympia.
On Thursday the 18th of September, bfm hosts the popular UK shorts programme and awards where the best of UK talents showcase and discuss their work.

The 5th bfm International film festival 2003 now celebrates 5 years of
screening ground breaking Independent films in the UK.
This year’s festival fortnight takes place between 5th and 18th September

world, including the US, Australia, Sweden, France, Canada, Nigeria and
the Caribbean.
Organized by bfm (black filmmaker magazine) and officially supported by
Ken Livingstone, the Mayor of London, this high-profile event showcases an
array of award-winning features, documentaries, animation and short films
by established international talent alongside black British filmmakers.
This year bfm are again screening an impressive number of original
projects, with a high quality of work from today’s generation of
filmmakers
This year bfm will provide a larger event with the festival fortnight
including 20 European premieres, exclusive preview screenings, seminars,
workshops and masterclasses, it all bodes well for the future.
