The 16th South African Women’s Arts Festival (SAWAF) runs at The Playhouse in Durban from Saturday 4 August to Saturday 11 August 2012.
This is a showcase for the impact women make on the lives of South Africans and SAWAF has become a landmark event on the cultural calendar. This year’s festival comprises cutting edge productions of poetry, music, comedy and drama, showcasing the talents of noted women in their fields of performance art.
This year’s South African Women’s Arts Festival will comprise of the following:
– Sailing Somewhere – Play
– Beyond Breaking Pointe – Dance
– Open Mic Poetry with a line-up of poets including Naima McLean, Zolani Mkiva, Ntsiki Mazwai, Dr Gcina Mhlophe, Bongani Mavuso and Sbo da Poet
– Women in Dialogue and Open Poetry session
– Women’s Celebratory Concert with a line-up of Thandiswa Mazwi, Lira, Zahara, Dj Zinhle, Minnie Dlamini as MC and Director and choreography by Somizi Mhlongo.
