This exhibition joins 18 works created in 2015. The technique Carmen Maria uses is based on the additive method in which the plate is made from hardboard, onto which are glued all types of materials and metals, to create the composition. The artist prefers to use hardboard as the main material for production of her plates as this technique permits a multiplicity of interpretations and thematic associations with little recourse of materials. The material used for the place has the unique characteristics that allow for absorption of colour and impact in the pressure during the process of transfer of the image from the plate to the paper.

Each print is unique and is not easily reproduced with the same plastic properties. With the reproduction of these images, come the colour and the pressure marks caused by the process of transferring the image from the plate to the paper. The work is also a product of accumulation of objects and materials.

Carmen Maria was born in Maputo in 1974. She completed a Graphics course at the Visual Arts School in Maputo and did a médium level course at the National Plastic Arts School in Havana.

She was a teacher at the Lopes Penha Visual Arts School in  Cuba and the Eugénio Lemos School – Gallery in Maputo. The artist is a founder-member of MUVART – Contemporary Art Movement of Mozambique since 2002, member of Núcleo de Arte Association since 1997 and of Kulungwana Association since 2012. She held a solo exhibition in Maputo in 1999, and took part in many group exhibitions in Mozambique, Japan, Namibia, Italy, Finland, Holand, China and Portugal. She has taken part in a few of the Colecção Crescente exhibitions at Kulungwana's gallery. She exhibited in MUVART exhibitions 2003 at the French-Mozambican Cultural Center and at the Fortaleza in Maputo, in 2004 at the National Art Museum and at the Contemporary Art Fair – FIL.

In 2015 she took part in the residency and exhibition RASTROS – Africa/Brazil contemporary art exchange. Her works are represented in private collections nationally and internationally, with collections including the National Art Museum of Mozambique and that of TDM – Telecomunicações de Moçambique. She currently teaches Drawing and Printing Techniqes at the National Visual Art School in Maputo. She lives and works in Maputo.

Kulungwana Association's "Sala de Espera" ("Waiting Room") Gallery is on Platform 5 at the Central Railway Station in Maputo. The exhibition can be visited until 29 August 2015.

Esta exposição reúne 18 trabalhos realizados no ano de 2015. A Técnica que Carmen Maria usa se baseia no método aditivo na qual a matriz é feita em papelão, e sobre o qual são colados todo o tipo de materiais e metais, para criar a composição. Carmen Maria prefere utilizar o papelão como principal material de produção de suas matrizes porque esta técnica permite que tenha multiplicidade de interpretações e associações temáticas com poucos recursos de materiais. O material utilizado como matriz tem características únicas que permite absorsão de cor e impacto na pressão durante o processo de passagem da imagem da matriz para o papel.

Cada tiragem é única e dificilmente se reproduz outra com as mesmas propriedades plásticas. Com a reprodução destas imagens, vem a cor e as marcas da pressão causada pelo processo de passagem da imagem da matriz para o papel. O trabalho é também um produto de acumulação de objectos e materiais

Carmen Maria nasceu em Maputo em 1974. Tem o curso básico de Gráficas pela Escola Nacional de Artes Visuais de Maputo e o curso médio em Gravura pela Escola Nacional de Artes Plásticas de Havana.

Foi professora na Escola de Artes Visuais Lopes Penha em Cuba e na Escola Galeria Eugénio Lemos em Maputo. Carmen Muianga é membro fundador do MUVART – Movimento de Arte Contemporânea de Moçambique desde 2002, da Associação Núcleo de Arte em Maputo desde 1997 e da associação Kulunguana desde 2012. Realizou uma exposição individual em Maputo e 1999 e em  várias exposições colectivas em Moçambique, Japão, Namíbia, Itália, Finlandia, Holanda, China e Portugal. Tem participado nas exposições da Colecção Crescente na galeria Kulungwana. Participou em várias exposições do MUVART nomeadamente, 2003 no Centro Cultural Franco Moçambicano e na Fortaleza de Maputo, em 2004 no Museu Nacional de Arte e na feira de arte contemporânea – FIL.

No ano de 2015 participou na residência artística RASTROS – Intercâmbio África/Brasil na arte contemporânea. As suas obras estão representadas em colecções privadas nacionais e estrangeiras, com destaque para a coleção do Museu Nacional de Arte de Moçambique e Coleção da TDM – Telecomunicações de Moçambique. Actualmente é professora na Escola Nacional de Artes Visuais em Maputo, onde leciona as disciplinas de Desenho e Técnicas de Impressão. Trabalha e vive em Maputo.

A Galeria "Sala de Espera" da Associação Kulungwana encontra-se na Plataforma 5 na Estação Central dos CFM. A exposição estará patente até o dia 29 de Agosto de 2015.
